The name “Cilans” was born in 1996 on the shore of the Arabian Sea near Mumbai. It was influenced by the era of internet expansion and innovations in the LAN/ WAN space (Frame Relay, ATM, IP/MPLS), Object-oriented software development, WWW (early version of browsers and search engines), mobile and handheld devices (like Palm Pilot by US Robotics). At that time, the naming was meant to simply derive from the initial letters of the Centre of Internet Leveraged Applications & Networking Solutions. Though Cilans was formed many years later, its core focus has always remained on emerging technologies. Now, the tech world is witnessing the consolidation of various disruptive trends (including Data Analytics, AIML, 5G, IoT, Blockchain, Metaverse, and Hyperautomation). Keeping the pace with technology, our vision has also evolved over the years, from a) LAN-WAN domain to Cloud and IOT (Internet of Things), b) from typical system software to AI/ML and Blockchain-based solutions, c) monolithic app development to adv microservices-based Full stack web technologies. The term cybernetics was coined by the mathematician Norbert Wiener in 1948.
